On Wednesday the 21st of January 2009 Microsoft held its Momentum IT Evolution 2009 event at the Palais des Congrès where more than 700 customers were invited to get a front row seat as both Microsoft and partners unveiled the hottest virtualization trends in IT today.

Midware Data Systems part of ITG (Holding),   participated in this event, through the presentation of Miss Maral Topalian, Presales Engineer, covering the subject of ‘Virtualization across the enterprise’.

IT decision makers, IT professionals and developers gained insight on Microsoft’s virtualization technologies like Hyper-V, App-V and Virtual Machine Manager. They discovered how the new SQL Server 2008 provides an enterprise ready data platform to manage any data, any place, anytime. They also learned more about how the new Visual Studio 2008 provides the most productive developer experience and saw how Silverlight can help deliver the next generation of rich interactive applications.

Both Microsoft and partners introduced the new dynamic capabilities of SQL 2008 Server and the latest Microsoft virtualization solutions. Microsoft seized the opportunity to showcase Microsoft virtualization software, new tools and trends. Partners participated in track sessions and presented the latest Microsoft technologies driving their success.

Midware Data Systems (MDS) participated in 2 sessions.
In the first session Maral Topalian Presales Engineer from Midware Data Systems and Ralph Abboud Systems Engineer from Allied Computer Services, also member of ITG (Holding), presented a 360° session on virtualization across the enterprise, from the server to the desktop to the application. The session covered the benefits of migrating to a consolidated virtualized server environment and how virtualization can help cut on hardware maintenance costs, increase load balancing for performance, as well as reduce power consumption. Customers were able to see how Hyper-V and Virtual Machine Manager work together through different demos that covered quick migration and moving a physical server infrastructure to a virtualized consolidated infrastructure.

In the second session Maral Topalian presented Microsoft’s Application Virtualization App-V previously known as SoftGrid which is part of MDOP Microsoft’s Desktop Optimization Pack offering. Maral demoed how applications can be delivered to the desktop as network enabled services and users can run applications without having them installed on their machines. Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) decouples applications from the operating system and enables them to run as network services. Application virtualization can be layered on top of other virtualization technologies network, storage machine to create a fully virtual IT environment where computing resources can be dynamically allocated in real time based on real time needs. App-V's makes everything from deployments and upgrades to migrations and business continuity initiatives easier and faster with better agility.
