Voice & IP Telephony
A- A+

IP Telephony describes a technology that uses the Internet Protocol to provide voice access to end users. IP telephony replaces the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The call travels in the form of packets, over a Local Area Network (LAN), or the Internet, avoiding PSTN tolls.

  • Better businesses integrations: Businesses can seamlessly integrate their communications over large areas or multiple locations: Older systems could do some networking but the integration was always incomplete, because it was still a matter of very distinct systems with their own controls being operated separately. Today, an office in one part of the world can now literally be part of the same phone system as an office in the other part

  • Large savings in organizations costs of long distance calls between offices: By using VOIP provider for long distance and international calls

  • Elimination of phone wiring: An IP Telephone system allows you to connect hardware IP phones directly to a standard computer network port (which it can share with the adjacent computer). This way only one network cable is needed from the datacenter saving the cost of one additional port per user. With Oower-over-Enthernet (PoE) capability, this port can also be used to power the IP phone through the network, without the need for an adapter

  • Large scalability: Additional IP phone users will not require additional boards and media gateways saving big space in the data center cabinets

  • Hot desking: With an IP PBX, the user simply takes his phone to his new desk – No patching from the data center’s side is required, the user can plug the phone to the new LAN port and the phone is set up and running in seconds

  • Software IP phones also provide the flexibility of adding the softphone capability to end user devices such smartphones or laptops

  • Unified Communications & Collaboration is also a functionality that uses IP telephony as a backbone
