December 26, 2019 - Cairo, Egypt

Agricultural Bank of Egypt (ABE), one of the biggest agricultural banks in the Arab world and Middle East, are planning to comply with the financial inclusion strategy, mandated by Egyptian Monetary authorities, and transform their society into a cashless one with the help from MDSL, an ITG company.

The bank business relies mainly on special underwriting system for agriculture loans. It has 1200+ branches that are scattered across rural areas of Egypt and that provide special loan types and services to the agricultural activities segment.

The most important requirement for the bank was the capability of the awarded system to support their agriculture micro-financing strategy by introducing the concept of Farmer payment card. The main function of the Farmer card is to create a mechanism by which the credit facilities granted to Farmers are controlled so that Farmers’ expenditures are restricted to merchants of agriculture business and services. The farmer card will become the first building block in a more ultimate Value chain that associates Farmers with Farming products trade and industry

MDSL being partner with a top-ranked global fin-tech (FIS) and reseller of their award-winning range of EFT Payment systems, can create a robust, high-volume, high-availability and highly scalable EFT processing environment.

Designed to run in mission critical environments and to facilitate the bank’s business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, it provides all of the core business functions ABE needs to create and maintain payment cards and to process electronic payment transactions.

Our proposed solution consists of  products to support ATM and POS device driving, transaction routing, authorization, communications support, operational management and monitoring, network and host interfaces, security strategies, Payment cards issuance and operations, fraud blocking and statistical monitoring.

MDSL’s proposed solution has the capability to leverage the Bank’s need for transformation and adopting changing operating models at the same time and over time.

MDSL EFT team analysed the bank’s strategy and assessed their business requirements, and will be implementing these solutions in accordance with the best international practices in a record time: IST/Switch, Card Management System, Reconciliation System, Merchant Management, and Fraud & Monitoring System.

By deploying the solution, the Agricultural Bank will have for the first time their own operated in-premises EFT solution platform which will enable them to operate and manage the electronic payment systems in an integrated manner, allowing for fast-track compliance with the country-wide Financial inclusion and become a pioneer in the cashless agriculture micro-financing.
